Discover the difference
Hamilton College Junior School is a vibrant learning hub, dedicated to recognising, building on and celebrating individual pupil’s strengths and talents. Our dedicated team of professionals have your child’s wellbeing and academic success at the heart of all we do. We encourage all pupils to learn actively, to ask questions, discover answers and share their learning articulately. Our pupils grow in confidence and enthusiasm as they progress, taking responsibility for their own learning.
Class sizes are small, with pupils being supported by a high ratio of pupil support assistants who specifically target Literacy and Numeracy across learning. Our team of dedicated and inspirational class teachers is complemented by five support assistants and two pupil support for learning teachers. We also have an educational psychologist who works with our pupils on an individual and collective basis.
Pupil voice is important to us at Hamilton College. We have a Junior School Pupil Council, Curriculum Committee, Enterprise Committee and Eco Committee, comprised of members from J1 through to J7.
We care about each and every one of the pupils in Junior School. We focus on each child, spending time getting to know them and listening to them. We place value on the individual. Staff are passionate about providing the best possible educational foundation for your child. Individualised care and attention gives pupils the best platform to become successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors.
We have five breakout spaces in Junior School which provide teachers and support assistants valuable space for small group work. The launch of our Makerspace, which is devoted to STEM learning, has been a huge asset to the pupil's opportunities to design, create, evaluate and share their innovations. We also introduced a Language hub in 2018, which is accessible for all Junior School pupils.
