Students will study 3 topics for Higher Modern Studies
- International Issues ( The USA and Global Security)
- Income, wealth and health in the UK
- Political Issues in the UK.
Homework requirements
Students should expect at least 2 hours of homework a week.
Assessment details (internal and external)
Higher Modern Studies students will sit a prelim in January that incorporates their 3 end of unit assessments. In May they will sit their actual exam. Paper one is made up of essays and Paper two is a decision making exercise.
Next steps
Students who have passed and enjoyed the Higher Modern Studies course may wish to continue their studies by opting for AH Modern Studies. Also many Higher Modern Studies students may wish to use their essay writing skills by taking a crash higher in History in S6.
