Students will study Law and Order. Topics include:
- Research Methods
- Party policies on Law and Order
- Causes of Crime
- Victims
- The Police
- The Penal System
Homework requirements
Students will be expected to study for at least 2 hours a week.
Assessment details (internal and external)
Advanced Higher Modern Studies students will sit a prelim in January that incorporates their two end of unit assessments. They will also have to produce a dissertation of 4000 - 5000 words that will go towards their final grade. In May they will sit their actual exam which will be made up of essays and research methods.
Next steps
Pupils can easily continue their interest in Modern Studies at university by taking course in politics, sociology, economics and History. The subject itself is useful for many jobs including law, local government, journalism, the health service, social work, politics and many others where a knowledge of current affairs is essential
