Topics Taught
Students will study Russia 1918- 53. Topics covered include:
- the Revolution
- Civil War
- The rise of Stalin
- The economy
- The Purges
- World War 2
- The Cold War
Homework requirements
Students will be expected to study for at least 2 hours a week.
Assessment details (internal and external)
Advanced Higher History students will sit a prelim in January that incorporates their two end of unit assessments. They will also have to produce a dissertation of 4000 words that will go towards their final grade. In May they will sit their actual exam which will be made up of essays and source work.
Next steps
History is a popular and well regarded subject at university level. Also the skills learned by studying History at school are excellent stepping stones to many careers including journalism, law, politics, local government, administration, teaching, psychology and many other areas.
