Reporting to Parents
In session 2010-2011 the school piloted the use of our e1 information system to monitor pupil progress in S1. Pupils were assessed three times across the year in terms of their attainment, effort, homework and behaviour in each subject.
In the same session the means of electronically communicating such information to parents was explored and developed. We are now in a position to roll out an extended pilot in session 2011-2012. Parents of S1 and S2 pupils will be able to log onto to www.pearsone1.com and view the following information on an accumulating basis.
S1: Attainment, Effort, Homework and Behaviour will be graded on a 4 point scale by each teacher in September and October. A teacher comment will be added in December, forming an ‘Interim Report'. A further grading will be provided in March and there will be a paper report issued in May.
S2: Attainment, Effort, Homework and Behaviour will be graded on a 4 point scale by each teacher in September and November. An extended teacher comment will be added in December, forming a ‘Course Report'. A further brief comment and an indication of suitability for progression with a subject in S3 will be provided in March, ahead of the options event. No further S2 reports will be issued.
S3 - S6: Parents of S3-S6 pupils will be able to log onto to www.pearsone1.com and view the following information. Across the session subject teachers will make test scores, NAB results [pass/fail], prelim bands, and other similar information available to you on a rolling ‘live' basis. A post prelim paper report will also be issued to S4-S6 across February and March. S3 will receive a paper report in May.
Complementing this web based communication will be a series of parents' meetings in September - January.
In order to maximise the effectiveness of this system it is essential that parents provide us with a valid and reliable email address. Therefore if you have not received your log-in details from Pearson e1 by 30 September, then please contact the school office.
It is intended that some ‘hands on' training will be offered at school events across the session.
