Margaret Clarke - Principal of Hamilton College

Message from the Principal

Hamilton College celebrated its 25th anniversary during 2008-09 and in August 2009 launched its new logo and branding.  These continue to emphasise the words of 2 Peter 3:18 where there is encouragement ‘to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ'. The theme ‘Growing Together' encapsulates my aspirations for the school as it reinforces the benefits of having a Nursery, Junior and Senior School within the same building and of the opportunities for pupils, staff and parents to work effectively together.  The support of all associated with the school community is greatly appreciated and through collaborative approaches the College has moved forward significantly in the past year.

Hamilton College is a vibrant community where young people enjoy learning and developing their talents and skills. It is also a community where the values of respect for others, tolerance and integrity are encouraged within a caring Christian ethos. Throughout the school I am constantly impressed by the focus on meeting the needs and aspirations of learners and by the commitment to ensuring that individuals develop their potential. A personal aspiration is to see Hamilton College develop as an e-confident school.

The website is a great way to share information. The news items cover a range of activities and are evidence of both individual and group successes. The wide range of extra-curricular activities at lunchtimes, after school and at weekends provides an added dimension to school life. These include educational visits and sporting tours within the United Kingdom and in Europe. The reintroduction of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme is a particular highlight and plans are now being made to expand from Silver to Gold. It is wonderful that numerous staff are willing to contribute to the wider life of the school in this way.

Since receiving Gold Accreditation in 2008 as a Health Promoting School, Hamilton College remains committed to promoting health and well-being and ensuring that our young people and staff develop and maintain healthy lifestyles.  Hamilton College is a school community that has a genuinely family atmosphere where young people are welcome from all social and cultural backgrounds. Visitors often comment on the friendliness of the welcome they receive and we look forward to extending this welcome to you when you visit us.
