Recount of our Trip to Dynamic Earth

We visited ‘Our Dynamic Earth’ in Edinburgh on Tuesday 31st October as we are studying the rainforest and space as our class topics.

We walked through the galleries and travelled to the different climates of the world. The best climate was the polar climate as we got to touch a huge glacier. It was freezing! We also experienced what a volcano would feel like as the ground shook below us!

In the afternoon, we had a different teacher who told us some amazing facts about the rainforest in her special classroom. She showed us the Rafflesia flower, which is the largest flower in the whole world. It was absolutely revolting! We also had a look at some creatures from the rainforest, which were dead and safely in a box. These included: a centipede, a tropical leech, a thorny hopper, a giant stick insect and a tarantula.

Our favourite part of the day was at ‘Future Dome’. We sat on special rocking chairs which had buttons on each arm rest. We were asked questions about the future of our planet and we had to vote using these special buttons.

We all really enjoyed our trip and went home with some good memories from the day!
