Car Park Safety
In order to ensure the safety of our pupils we ask parents to adhere to the following procedures.
- Please drop off pupils in the top car parks, whatever the weather. Please do not drive pupils down to the front of the school as this causes very dangerous congestion.
- No one will be allowed to park on the access roads at any time, especially when buses are parked in the opposite lay-by. If you cannot find a space in the car parks you are asked to park in one of the roads opposite the school.
- Please observe the 10 mph speed limit at all times within the school grounds.
- Parents are asked to stagger their arrival and departure times so that, for instance, if you do not pick up a child before 3.45 pm please endeavour not to arrive more than 5 or 10 minutes early. By the same token it would be a great help if parents would leave the premises as soon as they have picked up all their children.
- Once you have collected a child, particularly if you are waiting for a brother or sister, please keep that child in your car or strictly under your control and do not allow him or her to roam around the car park or adjacent grass areas.
- Please encourage your children always to use the marked crossing from the path at the top of the steps across the first section of the car park and please set an example by using it yourself.
- Please note that in order to limit the flow of traffic using the road from the main entrance, no parent should drive down to the main entrance to pick up children before 4.30pm. Staff are on duty to reinforce this request and we would be grateful for your co-operation.
- Please do not ask your children to wait in the car park or by the main gate. Your child should always wait with the duty teacher at the top of the steps and, if not collected, will be brought down to the school when the buses depart. Parents will also wish to take note that the Police have been moving cars on when they are parked in Bothwell Road.
