Kayaking for Charity

08/08/2010

River Clyde

Three Hamilton College pupils Christopher Lewis-Laverty, Alastair Connick and Gareth Kelly will be kayaking the length of the River Clyde for charity.  They will kayak the full length of the river (109 miles) over five days, starting on 8th August and finishing on 12th for two different charities.

Half of all donations go to the Glasgow Simon Community - a long-standing Scottish charity which helps the homeless of Glasgow by addressing the roots of the problems. Homelessness is very often a situation people find themselves in by little fault of their own.

The other half of the money raised is going towards funding the 2011 Burkina Faso Transform team, which is supported by Tearfund. The team is travelling next year to Burkina Faso, Africa - the 3rd poorest country in the world. Hamilton College S6 pupils have been travelling to Burkina Faso for the last three years, working primarily with the children providing technology and teaching, which brings many other benefits to the community as a whole.

We look forward to hearing about it.
